Manageable Cleaning Schedule

Ok, so I’ve never been a cleaner, there are so many other fun things to do!  I hate folding and putting away laundry, making beds, sweeping and mopping floors and especially vacuuming!  I don’t know why, lazy I guess.

Now I’m still not a bed maker and I’m no where near as organized as many, but I’m working towards it and this cleaning schedule is really helping.  I’ve tried other methods and while they were great and had lots and LOTS of good advice, they were just too overwhelming for me, a non-cleaner/unorganized person to even start.  So, I picked up this little gem from (can you guess) Pinterest. I adjusted it to fit the was my house runs and TA-DA, I’ve had a decently clean house, it’s been amazing.

The blogger of Fun, Cheap or Free is great, if you think that list is too much she has linked an even easier schedule to get you started.  But, if I can do this I figure just about anyone can.  I have changed somethings on the schedule.  For example her house seems to have mostly carpets where mine is all tile except the kids rooms, so some of the vacuuming changed to sweep and mopping.

Some of My Thoughts….

When I started this my house was not clean but it seemed so much more manageable to just look at the one or two things each day then to try to get to everything.  I only worried about what was on the list for that day and my house still ended up clean.

If your house is clean you’ll move through these few chores each day in no time.  So if you keep up with the list your house will always be clean and you’ll spend hardly anytime at all acutally cleaning it!  I used to say to myself well I’ll do everything on _____ day when my hubby is here.  But, guess what, it didn’t get done then either because on the few days when we’re all together I REALLY didn’t want to spend my time cleaning.  I’ve felt much less stressed because huge marathon cleaning sessions are not on my to do list anymore.

You maybe wondering why I have a “day” designated for laundry when I do a load every or every other day.  It’s because on laundry day I catch up weekend laundry and do things like sheets, decorative or kitchen towels, comforters….etc.  I used to wait until the laundry was out of control to do it and then I hardly ever got to things like bedding and the others I mentioned.  Yes, I realize that’s gross to admit but that’s the way it was.

Another thing you may be wondering about is why I sweep and mop three times a week.  Well, it’s because I have two 50-60lb dogs who bring in about 3 cups of dirt with them every time they go in and out.  To be honest I should sweep and mop every day but I just refuse, I hate floor chores and so three times a week is plenty for me.  Since this schedule is easily adjusted you can choose to do that chore more or less (I hope less).   I use our handy dandy Cuban Mop on one day to clean the floors a little deeper. Side note there’s nothing really Cuban about these mops, my grandfather makes them for us and someone along the way started calling them that.  I use the swifter mop the other two days for a quick mop.  Sometimes we need a fourth mopping day over the weekend, because like I said really the floors could use it every day.

I have also found to keep things decent we (the kids and I, but mostly I) clean up the toys and what ever other mess they’ve made two times a day.  My little guy is about to be one so he isn’t much help, but my oldest is 2 and if given a specific task she can do it without much supervision.  For example pick up all the food toys and put them in this basket.  I like doing this quick clean up before nap and before bedtime routine.  I used to think this also pointless, why would I pick it up when they are going to pull it all back out.  Well, I was very wrong, picking up a couple small messes each day is much easier than trying to pick up a HUGE HUGE HUGE mess every couple days.  Or trying ot get it done in the 10 minutes before someone came over because if I didn’t get it picked up said guest may think that some mafia group had come in tearing my house apart looking for evidence.  My children are capable of making such a mess.

Our dishwasher is definitely a necessity, it really helps to keep our kitchen clean I end up running a full load every day to day and a half.  I will also tell you that if your sink is clean it really is satisfying and makes your kitchen seem cleaner.  It’s like making your bed.  I don’t make our bed, remember hubby works 3rd shift so it’s being slept in on most days.  But, bed making does make your room look cleaner and I’m going to start doing it at least on his days off 😉

Somethings I have to do only when my kids are sleeping or after my hubby wakes up, like sweep and mop, clean bathrooms, vacuum (this because my husband works nights so vacuuming while he is sleeping during the day certainly would not be appreciated, we make enough noise as it is).  But somethings I do while they play with each other or while they eat, like empty the dishwasher, fold laundry, dust, wipe etc. Fallyn loves to help dust, I give her a rag and she follows me around wiping everything up.

On the fun cheap or free blog she suggests that this list can be done even if you work outside the home, I would agree.  I know you think stay at home moms have tons of time all day but I promise they don’t and full time working moms have even less.  I would say if you only worry about doing what’s on the list for the day you could definitely get it done after you put the kids in bed, while you may not want to spend anytime cleaning, I swear it really doesn’t take that long.  Especially if you keep up with it.  It took me 5-10minutes per bathroom yesterday.  While you may be tired after work and putting your kids to bed, I bet you sleep better if you accomplish just one or two chores.  Plus you’ll have much less stressful and nicer days off if you don’t have to pack all your cleaning into the limited days you get to have away from your job.

I’m BACK….

Have you missed me?  Well, I’ve missed you!  Life got away from me and all of the sudden I realized its been months since I’ve written.  I have plenty of updates for you.  As you know I was in the home stretch of my weight loss goals with the help of Shakeology and Brazil Butt Lift’s Slim and Lift program.  Well God or the universe had something else in mind for me and I discovered I was pregnant in April!

With News, News and more News….

Fallyn at Disney for her 2nd Birthday!

We are in store for round three and couldn’t be happier, while we had been on the fence about our third child (The Right Number of Babies) and to tell you the truth my husband was considering having a vasectomy, our family couldn’t be happier than we are.  Again God and the universe must have known our family wouldn’t be complete with out a third child!  We will be expecting baby number3 around December 10th.

By the way, guess when graduation for my MBA is….December 15th, meaning finals will happen December 8th.  I will go out of my MBA the same way I came in pregnant/just having delivered a baby.  It is a little stressful but I got through it once I can certainly do it again 🙂

Other news, I have been working on a weight gain goal of 20-25lbs, this number is based on my beginning weight as being on the high end of healthy, as well as myself knowing in my last two deliveries 3 weeks after having the baby I lost 20lbs, which tells me that was the extra weight I was supposed to have gained.

While I have continued working out, this summer we’ve taken many vacations, so I’m having trouble moving out of vacation mode back into normal!  Well summer is almost over so I have plans!!

20 Weeks Pregnant

After I have the baby reaching my fitness goals will take priority again.  I already have my plans in place.  As soon as I feel good again after delivering I’ll start walking, then 6wks later after my postpardum check up as long as I’m good I’ll start one of the Beachbody Programs!  I’m thinking a round of Brazil Butt Lift followed by either Insanity or Les Mills Pump.  I really want Pump, the results I’ve seen from others are AMAZING!!  But so are the Insanity results so I’m still torn but I have time to decide.

Baby #3 Gender Reveal at Siesta Key…IT’S A GIRL!

And more updates…Fallyn turned 2 and Dominic will be 1 in about a month.  Time FLIES!!!  I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in my MBA which I’m extremely excited about.  My summer class is almost over so hoping to keep that 4.0 and move into my last semester starting at the end of the month.

In the near future…..

Some of the posts I have planned coming up will include, trying to stay on track when you feel as hungry as a trucker, working on your marriage, trying to keep your house in at least a decent condition when you have two children and two dogs bent on causing its destruction, the importance/myths of lifting weights, dealing with inconsiderate comments or unwanted opinions, teaching your children and more recipes.

Weigh in Wednesday is back again, I am happy to report I have been keeping to my exercise goals and good eating.  Thanks to pinterest and many new and healthy recipes I’ve collected its making it a lot easier.  I don’t feel like baked chicken and veggies are my only choices.  If you haven’t been the yet, go there NOW.  Well, when you finish reading my post.  But, she has tons of recipes, a lot of them are my favorites made over to be healthier options.  So exciting!!

My goal for this week was 153 on Monday I was there.  I’m hoping to see some change today, but it seems like the weight waits until the end of the week to come off now.  🙂  Which is fine because it keeps me working throughout the week.

Last week I am pretty sure I was active everyday except Saturday, I sat on my behind in class all day.  And during lunch we went to Fitniche to be fitted for new shoes.  If you haven’t done this I recommend it. First, I was wearing half size too small 😉 Already I can feel the difference.  When I was working out with my too small generic sneaker my feet were sore the next day.  I know it sounds funny but that’s the best way I have to explain it, when I walked it felt like the underside of my foot was sore.   Having the correct shoes for your workout needs and feet I now know are really important!

My goal for the upcoming Monday is 151!  Wish me luck in sticking to my workouts!  Today I’m going to do Yoga for 30minutes on my Biggest Loser game for Wii and then walk after dinner.   This is a new “thing” Vince and I are going to try to do.  Since we are eating dinner at 5-530 and he doesn’t have overtime this week we have plenty of time to go out for a walk before he leaves for work.

I know working out is probably not at the top of your priority list, it wasn’t always on the top of mine.  I used to make excuses for myself why I didn’t have TIME to work out.  But, be honest with yourself.  Do you have time to watch 30minutes to an hour of TV?  Do you have time to check emails or Facebook for 15-20minutes?  Do you have time to read a good book for 30minutes?  Then guess what you have TIME to workout.  You just haven’t set it at high priority.  I know you think that I am at home all day, not working so I have plenty of time to get in my work out in.  I do nothing all day while you are at work.

I can tell you staying home is the hardest job I’ve ever had, there are no lunches or 15minute breaks.  No other adult to talk to, or complain to about the company!  But, honestly and truly I love every minute, don’t get me wrong there are times when I think “Oh WHY oh WHY did I not go back to work”.

I don’t know where the time goes!  Playing and feeding and coloring and diapering and running the the potty take up all my time.  I know it sounds crazy but when you finish with one and sit down the other needs something.  In between I write to you, do school work and clean (although I’ve lost a lot of cleaning time to my new pinterest obsession) and fit in a workout during the 30minutes to an hour each day they are both sleeping at the same time!  Is that what I want to be doing during my only break in the day. NO ABSOLUTELY NOT!  I want to be eating girl scout cookies watching trashy TV!  But, I also am so tired of making excuses for myself.  I am ready to be fit and feel good.


I know many of you have work on top of two kids so you are working two jobs.  But, I bet your kids would love to go for a quick walk after dinner instead of watching TV.  I bet they would get a kick out of you doing planks in the living room, or jumping jacks during commercials.  Little changes can add up to a lot over time.  And with summer just around the corner wouldn’t you like to be even just a little more toned then you are now.  I would!

Last summer when I was pregnant, I said I was going to be in shape enough to learn to surf.  I’m on my way there!  I am looking forward to time at the beach this year.  Which is a feeling I haven’t had in a while!

The RIGHT Number of Babies

How many babies is the right number?  This is the question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately, and I mean A LOT!  For as long as I can remember I have wanted to have 4 children.  Yes, I have many times been looked at like (and  even told) I was crazy.

About 7 Months Pregnant with Dominic

Now, once I got married is when I really started to think about it.  I knew from seeing other pregnant women that I would not be one to enjoy pregnancy.  So, I hoped to reach my goal of 4 children I would have twins.  If I expressed this wish out loud I got even more “you must be crazy” looks and comments.

I know what you’re thinking, what about what Vince wants.  Well, when we had discussions about it he always said 2, so we decided we could compromise at 3.  Me secretly hoping for my two sets of twins 😉

The Reality:
Now that I have been pregnant twice I can tell you with extreme certainty that I do not enjoy it.  I don’t like/need others to lift things for me or give me their opinion of every thing I do.  I was uncomfortable, hot, swollen and FAT.  Yes, blah blah blah my baby was growing inside me, I was very well aware, thank you.  I think other women do not look fat when they are pregnant, infact, I know a number of women who took to pregnancy very well and were actually stunning.   But I FELT FAT.

My only enjoyable moments came in hearing my babies’ heart beat, seeing them on the monitor during an ultra sound or feeling them kick.  Those moments are  short lived.  It wasn’t until I had my baby in my arms that I forgot all my discomfort.

When we were dating people asked when are you going to get engaged?  Once we were engaged, it was when’s the date?  Once our date was set we heard, when are you going to have kids?  When I was pregnant with Fallyn, can you guess?  People asked when I would be having another.  Give me a chance to enjoy each thing as it happens for goodness sake!

Which brings us to the questions I get now.  You have a boy and a girl, aren’t you done?  Well, to be honest I don’t know!  We are very torn, to be very honest the world was made for people with two children.  Not to mention the expense for having multiple children.  I want to be able to save money for my kids’ first cars, their education, sports, dance, art, etc.  And even if I have an amazing job and make good money well less children means less division of those resources, so they will just get more, which in my opinion doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Of course, there are also other things to consider.  If God forbid something happened to Vince and I someone would have to take on the responsibility of raising our children,  and let’s be honest, the more children we have the harder the responsibility becomes.

I have also consider how undeniably LUCKY we have been.  I was able to get pregnant easily, during pregnancy the biggest issue I had was high blood pressure in the last few weeks, my children are happy and healthy.  Not everyone has been blessed the way we have been.  I am thankful every minute of every day.  Vince surprisingly is just as torn as I am, for all the same reasons.  Because we get the question all the time we’ve had countless discussions on the subject.  He always said 2 but now he doesn’t know!

Will there be a baby Conti #3?  Maybe, right now I can’t say for sure.  We are enjoying our babies right now as they are, what God and the Universe have in store for us, well who can really say.  I’ll continue to stay thankful for what I have been given.  And we’ll see where this road takes us!

How I Got My Babies to Sleep Through the Night

I am not suggesting I am any kind of expert on the subject but this is the method I used with both my children, who had EXTREMELY different personalities from birth 😉 What I did may or may not work with your baby, its not an easy thing to do and all babies are different.  But if you give it a week or so depending on how old your baby is maybe it will work and you’ll start getting more sleep!  I picked up these techniques from a great book, Moms on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care, then adapted them a little to work best for me.

The Hardest Part!
These next couple things will be the hardest so I put them first, that way if you decide this will not work for you, it will be early on in this post.  I truly believe everything I’m telling you, so don’t just dismiss it, at least try for a week.  You may be surprised.

Fallyn Loving the Swaddle

First, and this was REALLY hard.  If your baby falls asleep while you’re holding them, put them down!  I know, its horrible.  They are so sweet when they are sleeping you just want to snuggle and squeeze them.  Snuggle with them and squeeze them to your heart’s content when they are awake!!  Use the time when they are sleeping as limited as it may seem to take a shower, watch a tv show, read a magazine/book, put on makeup, paint your nails something for yourself.  Or something that you probably should be doing like folding the laundry, loading the dishwasher etc. 🙂  The point of this being you don’t want your baby to only sleep well if someone is holding them.
This is especially important if you are going to be going back to work.  If your child is at daycare or a sitter, they will not be able to hold your baby all the time.  Be honest with yourself, your child will suffer if you do not let them learn to be comfortable sleeping without being held.  As much as anyone wants to be able to hold your baby in a setting where there are multiple children to take care of it is not realistic to think they can.  I only have my two children at home and sadly one has been crying because I’m having to tend to the needs of the other.  And, don’t think its not sad for the person taking care of your child, no one wants for a baby to cry whether that baby is their’s or not.
Here is the next hardest thing, put your baby in their crib while they are still AWAKE, tired but awake.  You shouldn’t rock your baby to sleep, or as I was guilty of with Fallyn, rock the bassinet.  Here is the problem with rocking your baby to sleep, EVERYONE wakes up during the night, you just roll over and let yourself fall back asleep.  If you do not give your baby a chance to learn how to put themselves to sleep they will need you to do it everytime they wake up.  They will cry during the night not just because they are hungry but because they truly need you to put them back to sleep, since they do not know how to do it themselves.

Routine & Swaddling
Babies are incredibly adaptable and learn routines very easily.  Our night time routine now is very simple bath, story, good night hugs and kisses then bed.  Its gotten to be where I’ve  tried  to let Fallyn stay up later for one reason or another and at a certain time she starts asking to go bed.  Both my babies loved to be swaddled, in fact, I still swaddle Dominic and he is almost 5months old.   Not only did swaddling comfort my babies but as I’ll suggest later helped them learn the difference between night and day.

Ok, so I don’t know about you but I HATE when people say keep you baby awake during the day.  Has anyone actually been successful at this?  When a baby wants to sleep there isn’t much you can do about it, that being said I figured out a couple of things to help along the learning process.

Dominic Swaddled

First of all like I said I think its ridiculous to try to keep your baby awake!  But, you do not have to let them sleep as long as they want either.  I would only let my babies sleep uninterrupted during the day for two hours, when the two hour mark hit I would pick them up, change their diaper, talk to them.  Even if they only stirred for a moment I believe it helps them work out during the day its time to be awake.  At night I would leave them sleeping for as long as they wanted.  Another little trick I had was to only swaddle them at bedtime.  This was something I figured out along the way I swaddled Fallyn during the day too at first, but realized it may help her learn the difference between night and day if I only did it at night.

Nap Time!

 At about 8 each night, we have bath time, pjs are put on, a story is read and maybe if there is time some TV(for Fallyn, she didn’t start watching TV until she was over 1).  Then off to bed.  Here comes the hardest part.  Honestly, I didn’t start with Fallyn until 3weeks.  Until then I was rocking the bassinet until she fell asleep and then would rock it after I fed her in the middle of the night.  Around this time, I had finished reading the Moms on Call book and decided to put their suggestions to work.  I did it and I think you should too!
Put them to bed when they are tired but still awake and if they cry, you have to let them cry for a designated amount of time.   Because Fallyn was only a few weeks I would only let her cry 2minutes straight.  A real two minutes is A LOT longer than you think.  It seemed like hours when my baby was crying.  And in the interest of full disclosure, I will tell you that I did sit in the living room and cry too.  I don’t want you to think I’m heartless and it didn’t concern me my infant was crying.  I hated it!  After the two minutes I would go in, check her, reswaddle if needed and give her a pacifier and leave.  You cannot take them back out of the crib once you’ve put them to bed.  The crying will last longer if you do.
Here’s the good news, the longest she ever cried was the full two minutes, one check and another minute after that.  By the 5th day she didn’t cry anymore at all. Now, I’ll tell you the amazing thing, I think because I did all the things I recommended above right away with Dominic he never cried when I put him down for bed.

Middle of the Night Feedings

This is after they are two weeks, before this point feed on demand as soon as they need it.  After they are two weeks, when they wake up in the middle of the night to eat , wait until they cry(really cry), don’t immediately jump up because they are stirring.  When you pick them up, have the bottle ready, keep the lights as low as possible, don’t talk to them.  Feed, change, reswaddle and back to bed.  The middle of the night is not time to play, if they are hungry then of course they should eat but you don’t want your baby to get too stimulated in the middle of the night.
By the way, I have also read that by 8weeks babies no longer NEED to eat during the night.  They can get all the food they need during the day.  This is how I knew when to start offering my kids more at each feeding, if they started waking up during the night again then I would offer them a little more formula in each bottle during the day and they would sleep through the night again.
Another sidenote, I have NEVER put cereal in my babies bottles, they got no food until 4months and it was always fed to them with a spoon.  I am not a fan of the cereal in the bottle technique, as I’;m sure MANY people will not be fans of my technique, to each his own.  I do not judge, but I will tell you honestly I don’t like it.  I worry about their little tummy’s not being ready to digest the food.

Why I think these things work
The most convincing proof I have is I have NEVER had to let Dominic cry himself to sleep.  I swaddle him, put him in his crib and he goes to sleep.  By the time Fallyn was 4-5weeks she slept from 9-3 then back to sleep until 7-8.  At 6weeks she was sleeping through the night from 9-6.  With Dominic all of this happened even faster.  By 2-3weeks Dominic slept 9-3 and by 4 weeks from 9-6.  Then Fallyn started sleeping from 9-9 around 10-12 weeks; Dominic started sleeping from 10-8 around 10-12 weeks.
Again, I read and adapted the techniques suggested in the Moms on Call book to fit for my babies.  Maybe you can find a way to make this work for your baby.  Its not easy, but if you stick it out and give it a REAL chance I’d have to bet you would get more sleep.

My Kids are Happy, Healthy AND Sleep through the Night!

NOTES ADDED 1/09/14….I had my third baby December of 2012!  Just like the other two I used these steps and she too slept through the night at an early age.  My children continue to be decent sleepers.  Dominic turned two in September, sometimes he does cry that it’s bed time but once in bed and covered is happy.  Fallyn wakes in the middle of the night some nights and wants to sleep the rest of the night with us.  We let her, she’s 3 and won’t be little forever.  Sooner than we would like we will be embaressing, she won’t want to hold our hands or snuggle.  I’m taking advantage.  And our little Alexa turned is about to be 13months, she lights up our life and is the sweetest, happiest baby.  People are always noticing her beautiful smile.

***I also want to add that none of my babies had colic or other health issues.  Overall, I had extremely good babies.  Again, I am not pretending to be an expert.  I had three babies and this worked for me, I simply want to share my experiences in hopes that maybe it will help another mom get a bit more sleep***

Adventures in Potty Training

*Disclaimer:  Don’t read if you are easily GROSSED OUT*

The day after Christmas I decided I would start potty training Fallyn.  She had been telling me when her diaper was wet and sometimes would tell me before she pooped and went on the potty.  But she wasn’t the magic age of two yet, so I wasn’t sure if she would really be ready.  Weighing everything I decided that I would try with her for a good week and if she didn’t seem to be getting it we’d wait another month and try again.

I have heard many methods that worked for different people and lots of advice.  Taking all this into account I decided the best method for Fallyn would be naked from the waist down for several days taking her to the toilet every 15-30minutes.  I knew this was going to be messy but our living room is all tile so I wasn’t too worried.

Day one went as expected pee on the floor several time and poop on the floor once.  But she also went in the toilet several times and was very excited with all the cheering I was doing when she did make it.  Also, when she pooped on the floor and saw it was totally offended and tried to run and get away from it (I found it hilarious, until I had to clean it up).  By day two she only had 2 pee accidents.  Day three it got kind of cold down here so we went to wearing pj pants.  This kind of set her back and she peed in them a few times.  By the weekend she was telling me when she had to go, and I just constantly reminded her she wasn’t wearing a diaper and to tell me if she had to go.

Now she is wearing panties at home all the time except during naps and bed time.  I ask her every once in a while if she need to go to the bathroom and if she says no (which she usually does) I tell her “don’t pee in you pants” and typicall not right away but soon after she is telling me she has to go.  Each day she is staying more dry through her sleep times and peeing a lot once she wakes up.  And I still am not  brave enough to let her go out with no diaper although the past several days when we’ve gone out she has either held it until we got home or told me and I took her to the toilet.

On a side note though, poor thing, if she spills water out of her cup she thinks its pee.  Which is really funny, because she’ll say “OH NO! pee pee, pee pee”.  She’s fine once I tell her its just water but at first sometimes she got a little upset.

Overall, I’m very impressed with how well she’s doing.  Again, she’s not two yet.  I guess this is another benefit of staying home with her.  I can work with her and praise her one on one.  At a day care most of the time they cannot start working on potty training until 2 because there isn’t a toilet in the 1year old room.  There is no point in even starting because if they can’t work with the child during the day what you can accomplish in a weekend would totaly be undone by the next weekend.

Christmas Happenings and A Weigh In

I have finished my first semester of grad school with A’s in all three of my classes.  I’m pretty pleased with myself right about now, I’m having fun with my kids, loosing weight and kicking ass in my MBA.

Now that my first semester is over and I have 4 weeks completely to myself I still have a lot to tackle.  The Warrior Dash is a definite, so the goal is to become at least a jogger in the next few weeks.  Luckily, I have enlisted a couple people to help me work on that.  I also am going to hit potty training with Fallyn hard, she’s still a little younger than average to start but I think she’s ready.  She knows when her diaper is wet and has told me a few times she has to go #2 and made it to the potty.  I know that part is so gross to share for people who don’t have kids SORRY!!  And biggest thing of all is I have done VERY LITTLE Christmas shopping 😦  Hopefully I get some inspiration  on what to get and Vince and I can get some of it done tomorrow.  I know mostly I’m going to be making lemon poppy seed bread and some type of chocolate cookies for everyone but also trying to get people small gifts UGH!

Sunday we went to Universal and Islands of Adventure for our VERY FIRST child free day since Fallyn was born.  It was so much fun, I am a fan of Harry Potter and the area dedicated to the books in Islands of Adventure is amazing.  It is so detailed, I loved it.  We also got to see the Grinch and some Who’s in Dr. Suess’ Landing which was also beautiful and very fun.  Friday we are all headed to Mickey’s Very Merry Christamas Party.  I’m pretty excited because Fallyn can ride most of the rides at the Magic Kingdom Park.  Other exciting news I have been asked to be a bridesmaid in one of my best friends’ wedding this June!!!  I’m so excited she is going with a romantic/glamour theme and things look beautiful.

Now on to the most important item for Wednesday my weigh in.  I have been doing really good with my low carb eating, but have been working out less.  Soon workouts will not be an option!  If I want to be able to make it through the Warrior Dash there’s no choice I have to fit them in.

Goal, I would like to be under 160 by Christmas!   I am also going to be actually doing a walk/run 4x a week starting next week.  I’ll still keep eating well,  at the end of the week I’ll be adding fruit and whole grains back into my diet but still not more than 3 servings a day for these complex carbs.  By the way I’ve found that once you make the decision that you want to be a healthier happier you and really want to loose weight making better eating choices isn’t that hard.  It’s not always the easiest for example when you are at a theme park and need a snack there are NO low carb options so you just have to be hungry until your husband feels sorry for you and buys you an $8 hot dog since it’s the only thing you can find that’s low carb.  For Disney I’m going prepared, with a small lunch bag for cheese sticks and fruit to share with Fallyn.  I also attribute the fact it’s far easier this time to stay on track to my very public weighing, and to joining Lindsey in the weight loss competition.

Just so you can get an idea how far I’ve come I included some pictures.  When I was pregnant with Dominic I got up to 198lbs.    When I started this blog I weighed 177, in mid October but at the end of the month I had gained two lbs and weighed 179 when I started the competition with Lindsey.  Even though in the 3 months since I’ve had Dominic I have lost 36lbs unfortunately I was not at an ideal weight when I got pregnant.  I still have about 25lbs I’d like to loose and quite a ways to go.  I’ll be back here with you every Wednesday to weigh in, and Lindsey and I are planning to start another competition when this one is over to get the rest of our weight off!

Weighing in After a Bad Day

Here we are back at Wednesday.  I was disappointed on Monday when I weighed in to my weight loss challenge and had only lost 2lbs.  Then yesterday I had a bad eating day, while it wasn’t terrible but I did take my daughter to McDonald’s.  Here we have $1.99 Happy Meals on Tuesdays & Thursdays so we both had a Happy Meal.  And when she didn’t eat all of hers I ate the rest 😦  For dinner yesterday I did do better, but if  I want to lose 3lbs a week I have to stay on track all the time!  It is hard with Fallyn and Vince eating whatever they want,  moving, and Thanksgiving coming up.  I haven’t decided what to do on Thanksgiving day, I’m thinking of keeping my portions very small and even then only eating the things I absolutely love.  I’d love some recommendations of how to get through the holidays and keep losing weight!

So luckily today’s weight is still the same from Monday, so my bad choices yesterday did not have too bad an effect on my overall goal.  But I still would like to be down to 168 by Monday.  Since I only lost two last week, I’ve added the extra to my goal for this week!  Hopefully carrying lots of boxes over the weekend will burn plenty of calories!!

An update from last week as well we have found a house and will be moving in this weekend.  We are again so thankful to the great friends and family we have.  I am sad to be leaving my first house but so relieved to start over.  We are moving closer to my family who I have missed in the time I have lived an hour+ away from all of them.  We will also be closer to Vince’s work which will be nice.  The only concern is that now I will be an hour and 15 minutes from my school.  Since I only have class on Saturday we decided this was a sacrifice that we could deal with.

What a crazy year we’ve had!!!!  The one up ahead is going to be just as exciting.  Fallyn will be two, Dominic will turn one and I will have an MBA!  Wish us luck!!

More STRESS & Weighing In

Well, if I thought I couldn’t get anymore stressed I was wrong!  Two kids and an MBA were enough for me to be honest, I had NO idea how much worse it could get!  Here is the back ground info to the new stress I’m facing.  We, like so many others, bought our house in 2007 at the height of the housing market prices, we were about to get married and thought we should buy before prices get any higher.  We found a nice little starter house and jumped in!  Then everything went down hill, our house is only worth about half of what we owe on it and we qualified for NONE of the wonderful government programs that could help us.  To summarize after exhausting many options we got a lawyer and decided to short sale our house.  In July it went on the market and after just one weekend and two views we had an offer!

We were ecstatic, but then we had to wait for the bank to approve the offer.  I can tell you we WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED!  Now, FINALLY on Monday (4 Months later) we get the phone call the bank has excepted the offer and wants to close November 30th.  While this is great news, we now have a just a few weeks to find a place to live and pack up our house.  To add to the difficulty of finding a new place to live we have two medium-large sized dog.  Luckily we have many good friends and may have already found a place.  We are just waiting to hear back about the dogs.  If this house doesn’t work out there are many people keeping their eyes open for us so I know we will find the right place.

Mean while it’s Weigh in Wednesday again!  As mentioned before I am a stress eater!  So far I’ve done really well and haven’t cheated.   I will tell you that box of  White Chedder Cheez Its in the cabinet has been calling my name!  But here we are at another weigh in and my challenge is a big part of what is keeping me motivated, its what is keeping me from answering the constant call of those delicious, salty snacks!  Here’s a quick review of the challenge:  Lindsey and I must lose 35lbs by January 31st.  This equates to about 3lbs every week to meet that goal, so this week by Monday I’ll need to weigh 171lbs if I want to be on track.

I’m down 1lb from Monday!  Yesterday I did not work out at all so that has to be my only day off this week.  Today I have walked the lake with a friend and will be walking again in my neighborhood this evening with another friend!  In a month where we remember the things we are thankful for, I realize I have a lot.  Friends and family to support us tops my list of things that I am thankful for.


What a crazy week.  I had so much fun with Fallyn, we went to the park twice, made Halloween cookies for Vince’s birthday, finished the planning for our event and were able to hold an amazing event.  We went to a fall festival, carved our pumpkin, and of course on tomorrow’s agenda is Trick or Treating.

Another exciting development, a girl I went to high school with read my blog and has challenged me to a weight loss competition which will begin tomorrow!  I’m very excited about this challenge.  Between the competition and my accountability I face weighing in for everyone to see each week, I think I’ll be able to stay on track.  We’ll be using the website to keep track of our progress.  You only pay $10 to start a competition.  I just weighed myself that was terrible between my stress eating and weighing myself at night I’m up 4lbs!  TIME TO GET SERIOUS!
